Next level portfolio tracking: Say hello to your new performance page

Back in July, we gave your Newton dashboard a new look 👀 which included portfolio tracking features such as the profit/loss of your holdings and average cost. Read our blog post on that for a refresher.

‍

We’ve now added a performance page to the mobile app which tracks your portfolio performance, historical portfolio value, and money movements in and out of your account (both fiat and crypto). This will be coming to our web app soon, so stay tuned!

‍

Performance

You’ll notice a new card showing performance over the past week on your dashboard. Simply tap that card to take you to your new performance page. You’ll be able to filter over the following timeframes: week, month, 3 months, and all time. Important note: the ‘all time’ filter will only go back as far as May 2022, so, if you have been a longstanding Newton customer, you won’t see historical data prior to then.

‍

For your portfolio profit/loss, we use a simple calculation that takes the change in your account balance, excluding any deposits or withdrawals, and divides it by your net invested amount.

‍

Chart

You’ll have an interactive chart to view your historical portfolio value. Let’s say you want to check what your portfolio value was on September 1, 2022, you can simply hover over the chart to grab that value. These values are captured at midnight EST, and you’ll see your local device time as the time stamp.

‍

Breakdown

We’ve also added a breakdown of your portfolio that includes:

  • Profit/loss
  • Money in/out
    - Fiat in, fiat out
    - Crypto in, crypto out

‍

This breakdown gives you a better picture of how your portfolio is performing alongside money movements in and out of your account.

‍

Important notes:

  • The ‘all time’ filter will only go back as far as May 2022, so, if you have been a longstanding Newton customer, you won’t see historical data prior to then for any of the above sections (Performance, Chart, Breakdown).
  • In connection with our registration as a “restricted dealer” on August 15, 2022, we implemented ‘portfolio loss notifications’ (loss limits) on our platform. If you receive a ‘portfolio loss notification’, you may see a difference in your portfolio profit/loss amount as we use a 72-hour time period for that calculation. See additional details on portfolio loss notifications here.

‍

Enjoy tracking your portfolio!
